Opened by
Ferdinand Hashka (1895-1971) in 1937, The Goodie Shop produced
tasty treats that are still fondly remembered. Although the
business changed ownership twice, it appears that the excellent
quality of the baked goods remained the same for 64 years.
Treats from the Goodie Shop were also carried by various neighborhood
grocers, such as Ed's Food Shop and the Tower Market.
The Chriske
family closed the Goodie Shop in 2001; the space is now occupied
by Benny's Bistro.
