Crescent Movie Supply Service was operated by Clyde Russell Tipton (1907-1968) and wife Olga Benner Tipton (1898-1991) from 1946 until Clyde's passing.

Clyde and Olga entered into a formal business partnership in 1950. It appears from newspaper ads that Olga carried on after Clyde's death, from 1968 to1973.

The little building likely dated from 1946. It appears on a 1947 aerial photo of Helena. It sat derelict for many years, and was demolished in 2018.

Sanborn insurance maps of Helena show the address of the Crescent building as 1029 Logan St., but all advertising for the business gave the address of the Tipton home next door, which was 1031. That dwelling has also been demolished.

The photo below is thought to show Clyde's basement workshop at 1031 Logan about two years before the construction of the Crescent building at 1029.

An inquisitive lad, Cyde was badly burned when he was eight years old by igniting gunpowder taken from shotgun shells. He made a full recovery,
