"Territory Junction" was a mock frontier main street which occupied part of the lower level of the Montana Historical Society from 1969 to 1985. It featured 13 stores and offices with authentic 19th Century fittings and artifacts. The attraction was quite popular, and is fondly remembered even today.
Museum curator Robert Morgan (1929-2015) began planning the project in 1964. Construction began in 1968. There was a formal opening on July 11, 1969.
Museum renovations necessitated the closure of the exhibit in 1985.
