The Mint, 20½ North Main (Last Chance Gulch), Oct. 5, 1943. This saloon was in the Martha Hotel building, which was on the west side of Main at the foot of Grand St., which is now gone. The hotel was opened as the Pacific Hotel in 1887-88.

The Mint, later Matt's Club, was apparently in business from just before the end of Prohibition in 1932 (when soft drinks were served), until the building was destroyed by fire on April 28, 1965.

Next door, on the left, at 20 N. Main, was the noted Weiss Cafe.

Note the license plate on the car. Wartime constraints on metal necessitated the use of a tag in 1943, placed over the 1942 plate.
