Built about 1939 as a roadhouse, Chateau Hall served many uses during its 80-year lifespan. |

The west side of Helena sported several roadhouses beginning in the 1930s. The night club at the Broadwater Hotel, the Pepperbox (later the Helena Club/Corner Bar), the Nite Owl, and Chateau Hall made the area a mecca for those seeking a good time outside of the city limits.
During World War II, personnel from nearby Fort William Henry Harrison helped to provide these establishments with a steady customer base.
The Corner Bar, originally the Pepperbox, is the only remaining west side drinking establishment from that era.
In later years, Chateau Hall was home to a wide variety of enterprises. |
